What’s New?

January 27th to February 9th

Hello reader, welcome back. First off, I know! I lied. I said I’d be back and then I was not back. Please forgive me, it has been a busy few weeks. The RABBLE REVIEW team is hard at work on the new issue. We’re slowly reading through the submissions and meeting to discuss them. At this rate we might have our final selection for Issue 10 ready by…next year. Kidding! But it really is a lot to read through. The good news is that we have read through a lot of great work! The bad news…well, it’ll make choosing our final selection even tougher than before. It’s a competitive batch, and we are actually trying to accept fewer submissions overall to keep our issues a bit shorter. So apologies in advance if we decline your submission, but hey, you’ll at least know that the completed version of RABBLE REVIEW No.10 will be filled with some great work. So, you know, you can read that! Then reapply for RABBLE REVIEW No.11. I love that, wow, what a great consolation prize that will definitely make you feel better should you receive a rejection letter from us.

In other good news, previous RABBLE REVIEW contributor, and guest editor of RABBLE REVIEW No.5 and No.6, Rowan Crosthwaite, will be joining our team for the (hopefully) foreseeable future. Yay! We’re so excited that they will be joining us and lending their expertise to our tiny little operation. Rowan joins Valerie Vargas who also joined our growing team last Fall. We’ve missed having Rowan on the team. We are so glad they decided to return. So be sure to say hi to them on their socials and welcome them back!

A few last bits, I have not updated the Featured Work of the Week since December. I’ll try to do so this week. With that said, if you haven’t checked out Laura B’s art work yet, it’s still up on our site, so make sure you do before I finally remember to change it with something else. And once we make significant progress on the RR10 submission pile I want to get another blog post up. So much has happened in the news of late and I want o rant a little. Also, I want to do another livestream before Issue 10 launches so…maybe keep your eyes and ears peeled on that.

Lastly our Contributor Corner was updated this weekend. Past RABBLE REVIEW contributor, Patrick Connors, is hosting an emergency event in tribute of Renee Good. The event was announced before ICE killed yet another American citizen, Alex Pretti, so I’m sure the art community there will have even more to say at this event. The flyer will be linked below. If you’re in the Toronto area then please be sure to check it out, it’s happening on January 31st at 2pm.
