What’s New?
September 9 to September 23
Hello readers. We hope you’ve been doing well during this tumultuous time. Life goes on. Sometimes it feels silly to carry on despite it all, especially when you’re creating art. But we hope you are carrying on and creating art, and enjoying art too. This week we don’t have many new updates. Work on Issue No.9 continues, and we are still planning to launch on October 10th. We are also looking forward past the tenth to our tenth issue, and beyond. Which is why we are looking to expand our team of volunteers. If you are interested please consider applying. We’re looking for someone to help us run our social media accounts, and someone to be a dedicated Art Editor.
We have been looking to expand for awhile. RABBLE REVIEW in its very early stages was a team of five. Then it became a team of four, then a team of 3, then a team of two. Then we went back up to four very briefly, and then we went back to only two, Angel Neri, and myself, Andrew Adjei. And then we went back up to three, and our first issue came out. Around Issue 4 we went back up to a team of four with my friend Faithe Roberson-Paul coming on board, but she has become increasingly busier. RutheniumArt guest edited on Issues 5 and 6, and while we also loved working with them, they had other opportunities and responsibilities of their own. Admittedly, it is a lot of work for zero dollars. Trust me, I’d love to be paid to do this, but as of right now it’s a labor of love, and love alone. Maybe one day we’ll make money and be able to live off of the labor we provide here, but until then we do this out of our own spare time.
That’s all to say that it is hard to get someone to join when that is the reality. Who has time to be an artist in this economy? But, if you are lucky enough to have a little spare time and want to be part of our cool project, then consider applying. Angel, Jer, and I have been working together since 2021. We’re a hardworking trio but we recognize that the only way the journal will grow is if we have more talented friends helping us out. We hope to add one or two more team members in the lead up to our tenth issue. Speaking of Issue 10, we will be opening submissions for that soon after the launch of Issue No.9, so stay tuned for that!
Work of the Week:
“Landscape with Crows: Autumn Hours,” by Richard Metz
This week we’re highlighting Richard Metz’s fantastic art, “Landscape with Crows: Autumn Hours.” I forgot to promote this last week so I’m keeping it up for an extra week. The art is a two-pager, meaning it appears on page 4 and 5. As of this writing it is still very hot here in Southern California, so the art is definitely helping to transport me to a cooler climate. I cannot wait for autumn. You can find the piece in our 3rd issue!

Have a good week, stay safe out there. Not to be a downer, but COVID cases are beginning to rise again. I know wearing masks isn’t cool anymore, BUT, it does help slow the spread. So if you can, wear a mask and help slow the spread.
Also, ACAB, and fuck ICE! Have a good and safe week!
